The 2012 Heartland Shiraz is a beautifully concentrated South Australian Shiraz, showcasing the richness of Langhorne Creek fruit with an elegant balance of spice, oak and natural acidity.

Deep, dark crimson in colour, it opens with enticing aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and dark plum, complemented by cracked pepper, aniseed and a subtle hint of mint. The palate is generous and full-bodied, delivering layers of dark berries, liquorice, dark chocolate and savoury spice. Supple, fine-grained tannins and well-integrated French and American oak provide structure, while a refreshing thread of acidity keeps the wine balanced.

The finish is long and persistent, with lingering dark fruit, pepper and mint.

A terrific example of approachable yet structured Australian Shiraz, particularly from the excellent 2012 South Australian vintage.
